Accessibility
An accessible campaign.
This campaign speaks to every Canadian, and that means building a site every Canadian can use. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across the site.
What we commit to
- Keyboard-navigable interfaces (skip links, focus outlines, logical tab order).
- Semantic HTML so screen readers can parse the page structure.
- Sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements.
- Meaningful alt text on every photographic image.
- Captions and transcripts for video content (when video is added).
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences.
Known gaps
The campaign is actively being built. The following surfaces may still be catching up to our standard:
- The embedded petition and letter-to-editor forms are rendered by NewMode, a third-party service. We've flagged accessibility improvements to NewMode's support team and review the rendered forms regularly.
- Photography alt text is being captioned rights-holder by rights-holder; placeholder alts may appear on recent posts until community review is complete.
Reporting an accessibility barrier
Found something that doesn't work for you? Please tell us, we want to hear about it. Email info@keepfoodaffordable.ca with a brief description (page URL and assistive technology you're using is helpful). We aim to respond within three business days.
